Who This Farm Name Sign Is For

Buying it for him?
The husband who has been up before the sun for forty years. The dad who took over the place from his dad. The grandpa who still walks the fence line every morning. His family name and the year the farm began, in steel. It cannot be the wrong size, the wrong color, or something he already owns, because it is cut only for your family. Buyers of our signs tell us the same thing again and again: it is heavier than they expected, and he loved it.

Buying it for your own farm?
Hang it on the barn, at the gate or over the porch. EST is the year your family started on this land. The place stops looking like a property and starts looking like the family farm.

Personalized Farm Sign FAQ

What can I put on the sign?

Three lines under the scene: the family name, for example THE SMITH FAMILY, then a place such as IOWA or the name of your farm, then the EST year. Click Personalize Now, type your text and the preview shows the sign as it will be cut, so check the spelling before you order.

Which size should I choose?

Size is the width of the oval, and the height is about two thirds of that. 18 inches suits a kitchen, a mudroom or a hallway. 24 inches is the usual pick over a fireplace or a front door. 30 and 36 inches are made for the side of a barn or the farm entrance, where it has to be read from the road. This design starts at 18 inches.

Can it hang outside on the barn or at the gate?

Yes. The sign is 16 gauge steel with a powder coated finish, made for outdoor use in sun, rain, snow and cold. It will not rust or fade. Many buyers hang it on a barn wall or a gate post, and it looks the same years later.

How do I hang a metal sign like this?

The mounting holes are cut into the steel, so it hangs on screws, nails or hooks on a wall, a post or a gate. No tools are needed on the sign itself and there is no drilling into the steel. On brick or stucco, use masonry screws and anchors.

What year should go after EST?

EST stands for established. Most families use the year the farm was founded or the year they bought the land. Some use the year the current generation took over, or their wedding year. Any year works, and the live preview shows it before you order.

Is this a good gift for a farmer?

Yes, and it is the gift that cannot go wrong for a farmer who has everything. It is cut to order with the family name and the year, so it cannot be the wrong size, the wrong color, or something they already own. It suits a retirement, an anniversary, a farm handed to the next generation, or Christmas.
