A mother bear stands with three cubs among the pines, a mountain and rising sun behind her, inside an arched plaque frame, over two lines of stencil text: your family name and an EST year. It can't be the wrong size, the wrong color or something they already own. In our reviews, one in four buyers mentions how heavy and solid the steel feels out of the box, and the most common line is that it looked better on the wall than in the photos.

Buying it for your own home? Put your family name and your year over the door of the cabin, the lake house or the house in town, and the entry wall stops being a wall and starts being yours. Black on a log wall or shiplap reads from the driveway; copper or stone warms a lighter room.

Frequently Asked Questions

What text can I put on the bear family sign?

Two lines: a family name line (The Jackson's, The Millers, Bear Creek Cabin) and an EST line with a year. Most families use the year they married, bought the cabin or built the house. Type the text in the fields above and the preview updates live before you add it to the cart.

Which size should I choose?

12 or 15 inches suits a shelf, a mantel or a small entry wall. 18 inches reads well inside the house. For a porch, a front door or a cabin gable, 24 or 30 inches is the size most families pick, because the sign is seen from farther away. 36 inches is the showpiece for a great-room wall or a garage.

How do I hang a metal cabin sign?

The sign hangs with no tools and no drilling. Two mounting holes are cut into the steel, at the top and bottom center, so it hangs flat on a nail, screw or hook that is already in the wall. Because it is 16 gauge steel it stays flat and does not warp.

Will it rust outside on the cabin?

No. The sign is 16 gauge steel with a powder coat finish on every surface, which is why it is rated for indoor and outdoor use and won't rust or fade. It can hang on a covered porch, a cabin wall, a gate or a shed door through rain and snow.

Is this a good housewarming or wedding gift?

Yes. A last name sign with the family's own year is one of the few gifts a couple cannot already own, and the bear family makes it a cabin, lake house or mountain home piece rather than a plain name plaque. Buyers in our reviews most often give it for a new home, a wedding or an anniversary, and report back that it was heavier than they expected.

Do you have other bear cabin signs?

Yes.
